    Hello,

Is secure to mount a Veracrypt volume then format it?
I mean: when a volume is created it's fulled with random datas; so if the volume is formatted then data are replaced by 0 or I don't know what. It's no more random. And you can see the data's location, no?
I wonder if a attacker can get some information.
There are two possibilities to format: only the index with quick formatting and full format formatting.
    What about quick formatting?
    I would like to understand.
Thank you for your explanation. Have a good day and take care at home.

It is safe because the whole container incuding its internal file system is encrypted and when unmounted looks like random data even if full of zeroes. the volume file always look like random data no matter what is inside it. It is also common way to wipe hdd to make encrypted container and fill it with zeroes because encrypted zeroes are random data when key is lost. read FAQ for more information.
