Hi,

I have old SSD with 240GB fully encrypted system partition. I want to replace the drive with 1TB SSD. I have "only" C:\ partition and want to achieve the same with new SSD. Is there any way to achieve this without wearing 1TB write by on the fly encryption?

1) Decrypting the 240 SSD system partition is pointless as I will put the old SSD in old laptop.
2) Using clonezilla default settings is pointless as well, because it will copy RAW data (including not used space) to new SSD. Also Veracrypt does not support extending system partition size.
3) Using Veeam Backup seems reasonable. Doing the backup from running OS will create copy of unencrypted data. I have no idea how to restore full C:\ partition without breaking encryption. Also Windows would not boot.
4) Most likely I would need to create EFI partition, Veracrypt partition (only one?) and system partition. I would have to use some live CD OS to set up encrypted system partition and format it right away. After that I have no idea if I will be able to install Windows 10 even with ISO modified by "Windows 10 media patcher method" https://github.com/th-wilde/veracrypt-w10-patcher

Does anyone have any experience with backup and restore using already encrypted system partition with moving to new drive without reinstalling Windows?
