    Hi
So i had a bad sector on another partition on this Samsung 850 pro in an Asus Laptop
I wanted to format it all, to check for any more problems, so i imaged it to a file in another pc, with 2 different programs, aomei backupper and easeus backup, using sector by sector copy, i thought it is going to be a perfect copy.
Anyway, i cleaned the ssd, checked it for any other problems, nothing, so i guess i wanted to go back to where i was. I reimaged it back, tried to boot up, and the veracrypt loader works, password works, goes to uefi loader and crashes to blue uefi error and says it can't boot. Tried both images, same.
Tried to decrypt using original rescue disk, it decrypts it but it (the rescue disk program) says ok for decryption but no valid partition found?? Nothing seems to work then. Also, next boot still asks me for a password, even though i removed encryption and the loader with the rescue disk
Also tried to "mount without pre-boot authorisation" in the pc, it gives error, many possible causes for the failure starting with wrong password and a few others, but the password is good for sure, so that is not it.
Can i try anything else? Or both the image backups were corrupted, or not correct in some way?
I should mention that another partition in the image backups, the one where i used to store data mounts just fine in the pc after the restore (it was also encrypted, same password). So that was imaged ok, but the system partition no?
    Thanks!

    Hmm, just tried something else:
Did another sector by sector backup of my PC system drive partition this time, and restored it to the ssd of the laptop. Strangely enough, i can't mount it either!
So what could be wrong? Why do the system partiotions clone fail and the normal partiotions work? Is there anything else i could try?
    Thanks
    Edit:
Just realised that this clone worked in fact, but it was made unencrypted. It shows asa a normal drive. Probably because it was taken inside windows and already veracrypt made it "open" for the cloning program
So there was nothing to mount :(
The original question stands, then. Why an encrypted system partition does not work?
    Thanks

ok, other question then. if i backup a system partition from windows (other windows instance, but same password) does the backup work? or, because veracrypt sees the one to be backupped somehow and maybe mounts it, the backup become unusable?
