    Hi,
as it isn't considered to be nice, I won't necropost to this.

I do have exactly the same issue. Everything was fine for years, until I now installed the new CPU (Ryzen 2400G to Ryzen PRO 5650G).
With the new CPU, a single stroke of 'a' on the keyboard will print 'aaaaaaaaaa' into the prompt for the encrypted boot-disk (W7 Pro, 64) on VC 1.25.7. It is impossible to type the password correctly. BTW, even CTRL-ALT-DEL is NOT possible then, as if the string is filled up or length is not checked/limited).
At times, I can produce a single character with an extremely short stroke, but the next character will be 5 or 12 times the same.

The new CPU is OK, linux boots just fine.
The BIOS (latest 7B78v2J1, May '23) of my mainboard (MSI x470 Pro Carbon) does not have the option for 'fast-boot'.
I tried all USB modes (legacy, auto, off and combinations with XHCI).
This issue is same on all USB-ports (2.0, 3.0, 3.1 and C, reboot after trying a different port) and combinations with BIOS settings, on all keyboards: 2 different wired, 1 wireless.
My only PS/2 adapter seems to be for a mouse, so getting an adapter for a keyboards is my last hope.

Questions: Why does this seem to happen only with VC and not with grub of some linux-distros?
Is this related in any way? It seems @idrassi is aware of that. CSM and Legacy+UEFI are enable in my case for that Winows HDD.

How can only the CPU cause this? I don't get it, hardware-wise. It is not the fastest CPU on earth... and this was totally unexpected.

It imight be a kind of a BIOS issue, but i can't hope MSI would fix it. Or could it be a flaw of the microcode of the CPU? The Ryzen PRO-CPU's are not that wide-spread.

What can I do to help? I need to stay on 1.25.x.

    Cheers!

    Short update.

It seems to be related to UEFI. If I boot linux from USB using UEFI ('UEFI-USB key'), keyboard is normal.
But if I boot linux with the name of the USB-key (without UEFI), keyboard is showing the same problems with grub: menus can't be reached, prompts are filled with endless characters.

If booting Windows on the HDD, the entire boot-prompt of VC is usually filled with 1 or 2 strokes. The HDD is MBR, so it can't be booted using UEFI.

I was able a few times to use the keyboard normally with VC after setting the TDP to 35W. But not any more, and I don't know why.

The BIOS was reset several times. Nearly everything is on default. CSM and 'UEFI+LEGACY' are both always enabled by default.

The boot-prompt of VC really seems to be borked, as if the length of the string is not checked. Then even PIM is not reachable, it just hangs.

Unfortunately it seems the PS/2-port is not functional on this board with this BIOS, neither mouse nor keyboard. So I don't have a workaround.
