Using veracrypt, I created a full-disc partition on an external HD, and used it with no problems for about ten months. May ten days ago, I could no longer access the virtual drive, could not mount it.
To my surprise, the external hard drive is now empty of all data and Windows reports that it has 100% capacity; it works perfectly.
I have given up trying to recover what is lost (most was backed up), but am dying to know what happened. It's as if the drive went back in time to the day before I created the volume/partition.
It happened near the date when Windows 10 upgraded, but I can't state that was the culprit.
A capture of the error message is attached. Anybody have something thoughtful to contribute?
