Currently working from a Microsoft Surface Pro 3 with Windows 10. In anticipation of buying a new Windows 10 i7 Desktop system with m.2 system drive, I have purchased 2 internal 7200 10TB Toshiba disks: one to store data and the other to back up the first disk. Both disks are attached to my Surface Pro via a drive dock. I GPT formatted and then partitioned each disk (via Windows Disk Management) identically into 3 partitions. I only want to encrypt the first and third partitions of each disk.
When I try to create a Veracrypt volume on any partition, after clicking "Format", I get this error:
"Access is Denied.
Source: volTransformThreadFunction:2749"
I can't find any documentation on this particular error.
The options I always choose during installation:
encrypt a non-system partition/drive
standard veracrypt volume
AES, SHA-512
NTFS, default cluster, Quick Format unchecked
On my first attempt, I selected "Create Encrypted Volume and Format It"
On my second attempt, I selected "Encrypt Partition in place"
I tried several times.
If I have to, I guess i could encrypt the whole disks, but 1) I'm not sure if that would get the same error 2) I'd prefer not to since Windows will tend to ask to format it.
any insight into this error and how to get past it?

Hi,
I have the same problem I have encrypted whole HDD disks and it was not a problem but with SSD at 17% or 95% this message pops up.
