i tried to encrypt my external hard disk but i stopped it in the format process
because it said it requires about 17 hours to finish. so i clicked abort button
after that, i need to enter the password to mount the disk.
then, error message appears "you need to format the disk in drive:j before you can use it"
i tried volume > permanently decrypt but it doesn't work
and volume > resume interrupted process doesn't work too
LOL, its still Christmas time and miracles happen :)
Just abort everything VC related and format the disk. Then if you want to encrypt it again, bear in mind that it will take.... guess how long.... 17 hours. If you cant wait those 17 hours, you can create several smaller volumes (files, containers). Such arrangement is often very convenient.

Either way will do. You can format it anyway you like. Either push format disk button or use Disk Management, or anyway you can get to the format option.
All this is of course ONLY IF THE DISK IS EMPTY and no data is on it!

Do you have data (that you would want to keep) on the disk that you were trying to encrypt?
