I have been using TrueCrypt/VeraCrypt for over 10 years. I have never had any issues with it until today.
I was able to recover all of my data which is the good news. basically, I removed the ssd and attached to another computer using an usb enclosure. I was able to recover everything since I usually save to one master folder.
I cannot get the OS to boot at this point and keep getting the message:
"Recovery
Your PC needs to be repaired
The Boot Configuration Data file is missing some required information.
File: \BCD
Error Code: 0xc0000034
You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. If you don't have any installation media (like a disc or USB device), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer."
Although I can easily reimage a backup copy over this drive, I really would like to know how to resolve this. Would the VeraCrypt recovery ISO do the trick? Has anyone experienced this and resolved it?

Since your Windows OS wants to perform a repair, the only solution I can offer is to extract the Rescue Disk ISO from your OS disk like you performed to copy off your data.
Create the boot Rescue Disk and decrypt the system encryption. If the VeraCrypt loader still prompts you went you reboot, press the ESC key and once you are able to login to Windows, open the VeraCrypt application and decrypt again. This should remove the VeraCrypt bootloader and replace with the Windows bootloader.
Once your system operating normally, be sure to upgrade to the latest version of VeraCrypt since improvements have been made to the VeraCrypt software when Windows OS updates occur.

What other functions does the Rescue Disk have? From your post, it decrypts and also restore the bootloader. Anything else?
BTW... I have not used the rescue disk yet but I am able to still get to the VeraCrypt password screen and also able to enter my password. It is right after that I get the BCD message from my original post. I will use the Rescue Disk as you mentioned. Just thought I provide more details.

Thanks for the reply and will do what you have shared.
BTW... I am always on the latest version of VeraCrypt. I believe this BCD issue was caused by something else not VeraCrypt. Since you have been on this forum for a long time, have you seen BCD issues often? I have only found one other thread: https://sourceforge.net/p/veracrypt/discussion/general/thread/85fa295961/

It is good that you are using the latest version. There are bugs in older versions for the Rescue Disk that have been fixed for decrypting the system encryption when using the Rescue Disk.
Regarding your question regarding the frequency of Windows repair issue and/or BCD, there are threads from users from certain manufactures that override the bootloader order which causes unable to boot issues. Usually this problem occurs after they have completed the system encryption and at some point the user shutdown/reboots the PC that the VeraCrypt bootloader is no longer the first one.
However, since your system was previously working with VeraCrypt system encryption, it seems to be a Windows update/upgrade that caused the issue.

Although i may not be able to save the os, I know how to extract the data which is the most important thing. I usually save a copy image of the os and it takes me only an hour to restore everything, including system encryption of the os.
I was just hoping to save time and learn to resolve this "BCD" thing if I ever run into it again.

One thought occurred to me is after any VeraCrypt upgrade, you need to recreate the system encryption Rescue Disk available in the dropdown System label in the application to get any fixes performed for the Rescue Disk.

What version of VeraCrypt are you using on your PC?
The latest one:
Latest Stable Release - 1.25.9 (Saturday February 19, 2022)
