I have just started to use VeraCrypt 1.21 on a desktop with Windows 10 Home 64bit. I have a host file in a non system harddisk and after making a 20GB NTFS volume on an external USB3 connceted hard disc its files are encrypted and are accessible.
My problem is that despite no harddisks or USB ports set to power down, or use sleep or hibernation, or have Windows USB port power management set to power off, after a period from a few minutes up to an hour, VeraCrypt issues a message saying it has auto-dismounted the volume.
Disk Management shows that the Host hard disk (primary) is active.
I can remount but this is not a satisfactory solution.
I have replaced the external hard disc but the problem remains. My Windows 10 is automatically updated as is my AVG antivirus.
Can you advise what steps I can take to fix this?

If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
You may need to download your external HDD manufacturer’s tools to control the Sleep Timer which is independent from any Windows settings. For example, Western Digital external HDD have a preset value to go into sleep mode after N minutes of no HDD activity. The only way to turn-off this setting is to use Western Digital's Drive Utilities tool to turn-off the Sleep Timer.
If the above is not the issue, post a screenshot of your VeraCrypt Settings > Preferences.

Thanks, I'll get the tools and report
