I'm a very long term VeraCrypt user and TrueCrypt before that, first with Windows XP and then Windows 7 with VeraCrypt 1.16 which has run without a hitch for years.
However I now have a Windows 10 machine, HP Elite 8300 SFF, which boots UEFI style. Standard Motherboard Display Port graphics connected to a 1080P monitor via Display Port to HDMI adapter.
I've encrypted the Windows 10 System disk using v1.24-Update7 in the normal way and it all works fine except the VeraCrypt pre-boot authentication screen doesn't show, indeed the screen is completely blank at the point where I expect the Veracrypt prompts to appear until I have put in my password, PIM and the initial Windows 10 blue Windows logo boot screen then appears.
I've updated BIOS on my machine to the latest available and also tried booting from the recovery disk to try and restore the bootloader but that also boots to a blank screen. I have also power cycled my monitor and tried a different monitor without any positive result.
Has anyone any ideas? Thank you.

Without taking a deeper look into the reddit post: if you are using HDMI, it is possible that that's the issue as the veracrypt bootloader may not have the needed drivers for your graphics card. Just a guess, though.

I've now borrowed a VGA cable and tried it connected to that rather than the Display Port.
The display output appears to change to that used by the Windows boot sequence but is still completely blank. No further forward. Anyone else want to chip in?

But you've connected the screen to your primary graphics adaptor and not to the possibly inactive onboard graphics adaptor?
If that's the case, I'm sorry to tell you that I've got no other clue atm. Maybe someone else, who knows the code base, should assist further.

I've tried The graphical boot option detailed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIVfPIbzu7Q
I managed to get other than a blank screen after pressing F1 but the green options at the side were very blocky.
Even the Veracrypt Recovery Disk for the system can't be made to boot to a visible screen to execute recovery options.

I can find little on this issue anywhere (Just this https://www.reddit.com/r/VeraCrypt/comments/j8jg67/black_screen_on_boot/) and no fix.

Additionally: try to use DVI if your screen and graphics card support it. If it works this way, you know what's the issue.

There is no additional graphics card in this machine. both the DP and VGA are native on the motherboard.
