I recently got a 128gb USB flash stick. USB 3.0. It's DataTraveler brand. I'm transferring files to the stick from Windows 8.1.
When the USB stick is encrypted with VeraCrypt, I'm lucky if files are transferred to it at 1mb ps. I've tried re-encrypting the drive with different settings, but it's the same story no matter what. If the drive is not encrypted, this problem doesn't happen. If I encrypt it with BestCrypt Volume Encryption, data will transfer to the drive at a steady 12 or 13 mb ps.
What's going on here?

I usually encrypt my devices entirely, not use encrypted file containers.
However, is what I did is format the device so it was no longer encrypted, and I created an encrypted file container on it. It's still doing the same thing with VeraCrypt. I assume it would definitely do the same thing if I created an encrypted container on the device while the entire device is encrypted. I'm sure you meant for me to do it the way I did it.
The thumbdrive does not have its own encryption.
Again, I have tried this many different ways and it still does the same thing. It doesn't matter what file system I use, what encryption combination, or if I check the "files bigger than 4gb" box, etc. However, I've always selected a quick format since I do not have any sensitive data on the disk and I don't want to wait a long time. I got the flash drive brand new and it has always been encrypted while files are stored on it, except when I was testing the drive's speed without encryption.
With BestCrypt Volume Encryption, files are transferred to it at some good speeds.

Did you encrypt the device or used a file container on the device? If you encrypted the device, as a test, try creating a file container.
Does the thumbdrive have its own encryption?
