Not sure why (but this is a good thing). I have years worth of customer files stored initially as Omniform files and past 6 years as adobe acrobat PDF format.
With Truecrypt I had to copy the Omniform files to desktop or other folder outside of the Truecrypt volume or they would not open. Open just fine with Veracrypt
With Truecrypt could not open, change, and then resave the Adobe file UNLESS I changed the file name and did a "save as" instead of just "save"
Have not yet found any issues.......

This is indeed a strange behavior of TrueCrypt and I can't find a logical explanation.
A paranoid person will say that something in your PC has tampered with your TrueCrypt installation : by forcing you to copy the documents outside of the volume, they are no more protected because a digital copy of them will remain on the unencrypted hard drive even if you delete them.
Or maybe you were using a very old version of TrueCrypt that has some bug...
Anyway, the good thing is that VeraCrypt behaves as it should be. You still have to protect your PC from any malware, virus or spy program that can alter its security.
