<EDIT><SOLVED>
My issue was fixed via https://sourceforge.net/projects/veracrypt/files/Contributions/VeraCryptUsbRescueDisk.zip/download. Turns out that file I saved was the rescue disk iso but had not been named as .iso, and I didn't know what to do with it.

<EDIT> I'm basically looking to either decrypt the drive and mount it in linux, so that I can backup files, or be able to boot veracrypt from grub.

Previously using veracrypt on Windows 10. I booted into veracrypt authentication using a password and PIM of 0.

I can no longer boot into veracrypt/windows after installing Kali linux + grub boot loader.

Hard drive layout:

/dev/sda
/dev/sda1 <EDIT>: (external storage HD)

/dev/sdb1 500MB (Windows System Reserve)
/dev/sdb2 223.08GB (veracrypt encrypted Windows 10 volume)
unallocated 1.59MB

/dev/sdc1 ntfs 1.34TB (extra storage volume)
/dev/sdc2 extended 488.28GB
/dev/sdc5 ext4 472.28GB (Kali linux)
/dev/sdc6 swap 16GB

Currently I can load grub2 boot loader and boot into Kali linux on sdc partition, but I accidentally wiped out the veracrypt MBR on sdb and replaced it with grub2.

I don't have a rescue disk. I did save a file during the encryption process from veracrypt that is 1.8MB in size but I don't know what it is or how to use it. I know my password and PIM, but I can't mount the volume using veracrypt in Kali linux. When I try to mount the volume (/dev/sdb2) using my password and PIM in the veracrypt application, it gives me the following error:

Operation failed due to one or more of the following:
- Wrong mount mode.
- Incorrect keyfile(s).
- Incorrect password.
- Incorrect Volume PIM number.
- Incorrect PRF (hash).
- Not a valid volume.

Note: if you are attempting to mount a partition located on an encrypted system drive without pre-boot authtentication.. etc

Is it possible the volume is corrupted, or can I somehow restore/extract the data from it?

Thanks for any help.
