I have successfully encrypted my system partition. However when I re start the computer the veracrypt boot loader will not run automatically, I see the dell icon and nothing happens. I then have to re start go to the bios settings and select the veracrypt boot loader manually and then it boots up fine no issues.

I do have secure boot disabled and the veracrypt boot loader is at the top (first) in the boot order list.

Any ideas as to why this might be happening? Thanks in advance!

Implementation of EFI is not strict (vendor dependent). (e.g. https://sourceforge.net/p/veracrypt/discussion/technical/thread/5b859040/)

Boot order is not the only way to select boot. It can be BootNext EFI variable.

Is the problem stable? Do you reboot OS or shutdown?

HP implements nonstandard EFI boot logic. Probably DELL has some difference also. I cannot reproduce the problem to analyze

I got the same problem with Dell vostro 3560 laptop.
After encrypt system disk, it can not boot automatically. I have to open boot option then select veracrypt from the menu to boot.
I already tried to edit UEFI by BootICE but still got problem.
