I am trying to create a Veracrypt volume on a windows dynamic volume , made up from two 4TB drives, in a mirrored (aka RAID1) arrangement.

When I attempt to create a the Veracrypt volume, I get the following error message:
    "Incorrect Function
    Source: SetFormatSectorSize10358
    **

Followed by a stern warning that this is due to a damaged HD, cable, or memory, and not Veracrypt, and that I should not raise an issue about it with Veracrypt.

Well, there are no problems with the HD, cables or memory. All function perfectly except Veracypt. In fact I tried creating a Veracrypt volume on the individual disks (first removed from the dynamic volume) -- partitioned first as MBR, and then with as GPT. In both cases, for both disks, Veracypt had no problems creating the volume. This proves that there are no hardware problems.

Has anyone encountered this error? Any experience setting veracrypt on a win dynamic RAID1 volume?

    Any suggestion will be welcomed.

Just to add... I am using latest ver... 1.21
    Windows version 7 sp1 x64

I found a workaround, and this is definitely a bug in 1.21.

After posting my msg above, I came across this post:
    https://sourceforge.net/p/veracrypt/discussion/general/thread/4b09a53b/

about the same error msg, but for a previously created mirrored volume, and discussing that it showed up after upgrading to v 1.21.

Well, I uninstalled 1.21, installed 1.19, and problem was solved!

I had the same issue with 1.21 and could solve it by installing 1.22 Beta 4.

    Windows 10 Pro
    Build 15063.786

    2 x 1TB, dynamic volume, mirrored.

Error when trying to encrypt the Volume with 1.21: GetFormatSectorSize10358
