I'm running Veracrypt standalone on my windows 10 ( update 20H2 ). When I'm done encrypting on one machine, I decrypt it on another machine. After I'm done with decrypting it, I clean up everything so all the (Veracrypt) files used to decrypt are removed. Most of the times it works but sometimes the file Veracrypt-x64.sys can't be removed and returns with an error
"ERR : 5 0xffffffff" .
I can't remove this file manually and if I start the same (or another) decryption session I get the following
"Invalid handle to resource file Veracrypt-x64.sys, ERR: 32 "
"Failed to remove file Veracrypt-x64.sys, ERR: 5 0xffffffff "
And then there is no way to get a successful decryption anymore unless I restart the PC. So what is blocking me from removing this file ? I have even stopped the Veracrypt service with "net stop veracrypt" but no success. I have used a lot of tools from the net to find out what is locking this file but without success.

Hmm, that's interesting that you get those error messages. How about just uninstalling Veracrypt after you are finished with it?
