I tried encrypting SD Cards several times and always faced incredibly low speed. I couldn't even copy my files on it because the speed dwindled into hundreds of bytes / s at the end. The last one was a pretty good SDXC Class 3 Card and without encryption it was very fast. I used default settings to encrypt the whole device but still the same issue.
Is there any particular reason why SD Cards are so bad or am I missing something here?

Thanks. That did help. I benchmarked the SD Card and checked that the speed is indeed ok
