The beginners tutorial says: If you have not done so, download and install VeraCrypt.

When I go to download, for Windows, I see 5 possible downloads (see below). I haven't a clue which to download. Please advise.

Installer for Windows 8 and later: VeraCrypt Setup 1.24-Update7.exe (34.5 MB) (PGP Signature)
Portable version for Windows 8 and later: VeraCrypt Portable 1.24-Update7.exe (34.3 MB) (PGP Signature)
Installer for Windows XP, Vista and 7: VeraCrypt Legacy Setup 1.24-Update7.exe (34.5 MB) (PGP Signature)
Portable version for Windows XP, Vista and 7: VeraCrypt Legacy Portable 1.24-Update7.exe (34.3 MB) (PGP Signature)
Debugging Symbols: VeraCrypt_1.24-Update7_Windows_Symbols.zip (9.68 MB) (PGP Signature)

You did not state which version of Windows OS you are using on your PC.

Legacy version is for Windows XP and Windows 7. It appears the Legacy version will be deprecated in May 21, 2021. You can read the developer's explanation at the link below.

    https://sourceforge.net/p/veracrypt/discussion/general/thread/e217f0ebfe/#d6a9

Portable is for people that want to run VeraCrypt on other computers (non-system encryption) without installing the software. However, you may need local Administrator privileges.

Assuming your Windows OS version is Windows 8 or newer, the latest version is the VeraCrypt Setup 1.24-Update7.exe for installation on your computer.
