Lost an entire directory

    Recently, my Winodws 10 system stopped, and I needed to power it off. After it came back up, I reattached to my storage system using Veracrypt v1.24. Sadly, one directory was entirely empty.

    This, although windows shows the amount of space used on the storage system is much larger than what's shown in the (empty) directory.

    Are there any guideas about how to recover data from a veracrypt drive? I had encrypted the entire drive years earlier, and it was performing fine up until the Win10 freeze.

    Thoughts, anyone?

    Thanks!

    Has been all of your data gone? or only one directory?
    So you do have two solutions
    1) run checkdisk over the volume and scan for logical defects
    2) if method one does not have success try GetDataBack Pro trial on the veracrypt volume (on the mounted volume!) not on the partition hosting the verycrypt volume...
    GetDataBack should find and restore the folder AND filenames...
    The trial only shows what it could recover. If it is successfully aou have to buy a license to finally restore the data. But it will find a lot of things...

    Have fun
    Chris

    Chris;

    Thank you for writing back.

    Checkdisk says everythings OK.

    Thanks for the information on 'GetDataBack Pro'. I was trying with another freeware system suggested somewhere else on this board. (I don't recall the name) Microsoft also just recently published a data recovery tool.

    For now, I am wating on a large disk so that I can recover from my RAID storage system to another RAID system. I think this time I'll use BitLocker on the microsoft storage spaces RAIDs that I set up.

    So, I guess it's fun for me ahead...
