I understand the reasoning for removing old ciphers and the ability to mount Truecrypt volumes in newer version of Veracrypt.
But, is it possible to allow the portable version of 1.25.9 to run at the same time as a newer installed version of Veracrypt?
Consider the scenario:
I have Veracrypt and my computer running and come across an encrypted drive. I can't get it to mount in version 1.26.14 so I want to see if it's still in TC mode. I try to run 1.25.9 in portable mode but I get an error saying "An incompabtible version of the Veracrypt driver is currently running".
So, do I need to reboot and load up the portable version before the installed version to try and mount or is there another way around this where they both could run just for 1.25.9 to have the ability to mount TC volumes?
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
In your case, you can use the tool to convert to VeraCrypt by changing its password and checking TrueCrypt Mode: if the change is successful, then indeed it was a TrueCrypt volume; otherwise, it is not.

As indicated in this documentation page (https://veracrypt.fr/en/Conversion_Guide_VeraCrypt_1.26_and_Later.html), I have developed a tool called VCPassChanger that allows you to convert TrueCrypt volumes in a standalone way, regardless of the current installed VeraCrypt version. It can be downloaded from https://sourceforge.net/projects/veracrypt/files/Contributions/ or from https://launchpad.net/veracrypt/trunk/1.25.9/+download/VCPassChanger_%28TrueCrypt_Convertion%29.zip.

Oh that's great sorry for missing that. I was going on the info in the change log...
"Remove TrueCrypt Mode support. Version 1.25.9 can be used to mount or convert TrueCrypt volumes."
But that tool is great!
