I wanted to know if you can use the fingerprint reader to open the volumes, bearing in mind that you can still use a traditional password if the reader is not available.
    Thank you

      Teddy bear.
Just a little joke from Demolition Man.

After the unwelcome joke, do you have a concrete answer? Do I (or you) move to Feature requests?

I will give you a serious answer.

IDASSI is the only developer for this project, so unless you are willing to donate serious money, I doubt he will take the time to implement your idea. (Come to think of it, I donated to Tails OS, I should donate to Veracrypt next, gotta budget from my min wage paycheque.)

    Look at all these tickets!!

Fingerprint reader should be a hardware designers job. The tamper proof hardware authenticates the users fingerprints, if it is correct it lets veracrypt access the keyfile on the hardware.

I understand, but mine was a simple request not a demand.
Is there a video tutorial for using the Keyfiles?
    Thank you

Biometric hardware is extremely expensive and niche (most users are NOT willing to afford), so high capacity has to be worth it. EDIT: It also opens up whole new software vulnerabilities, makes Veracrypt file size larger, and requires lots of driver support cross OS. (Windows+Linux)

Biometrics also have a problem that it's not like encryption where mathematics protects your data, it's literally another "computer person" (computer person must be tamperproof, so searching FIPS certified tamperproof hardware like IronKey is a good place to start.) that grants access to your files.

      https://www.techradar.com/news/ironkey-maker-couldnt-unlock-this-locked-dollar260m-bitcoin-wallet-even-if-it-wanted-to

      You have 2 choices.

That 500gb drive can be encrypted by your fingerprint + veracrypt.

You can store a keyfile in that 500gb biometric drive, and use biometrics to let Veracrypt authenticate the Keyfile inside. (What a waste.)

If you don't believe me, go to feature-requests, and cite my work. A lot of other users will explain maybe better than me why it's not a good idea.

I mean I just told you a solution, but an expensive one.

I mean... if you demand the developer to write a whole feature right for you, maybe you should take the time to learn a basic feature in Veracrypt.

      Tell me what you think.

The hard disk is beautiful but then the problem arises of how to protect it given the cost. : D
    Just for me it's a bit exaggerated ... don't you think? ;)
I honestly thought that truecrypt this system already supports it, but of course that's not a problem. That's okay already. It is annoying every time to type the password and if there was the interface to the fingerprint pendrive it was very convenient.
As soon as I have some time, I take a look at it.
