I am trying to run games from Three-Sixty Pacific's V
for Victory wargames series on Win XP Pro. When run
under Win XP direct the program works fine except no
sound and a painfully slow mouse. When I try to run
the games executable under VDMS using the
recommended 'Run with VDMS' explorer command, the
screen blanks and then returns to Windows with a VDMS
windows dialog error message: The NTVDM CPU has
encountered an illegal instruction. CS:0000 IP:0077
OP:f0 37 05 0e 02. Choose 'Close' to terminate the
application.
I am running an 850MHz Athlon system with an Asus K7V
motherboard, SoundBlaster Live 1024 sound card and
Asus V6800 Deluxe video card.
Can you please help?

The window comes from NTVDM.EXE, not VDMSound. Try to get
another version of the game, see if the problem persists.
Also try installing the Windows Compatibility Update from
windowsupdate.com.
