#18 Daggerfall digital sound problems

I have windows XP and Daggerfall for my computer I run
it with VDMS everything enabled including vesa except
low level network and cd support seems too run fine
without those. Well the problem is I choose setup under
the vdms with launch pad try pick my soundcard and
set the irq dma and port all matching the what I chosse
in the launchpad options and click on test it freezes up
the digital playback until I alt tab out of it to return to
windows it then proceeds to play..........the midi set for
soundblaster works fine so I save the soundcard settings
and run the game......the game is showing nothing and
stays like that weather I alt-tab in and out or not. so I
continue to try all dsp and correlate each on the
soundcard setup. still same problem the game doesn't
startup....I choose none for digital and leave the midi on
and the game proceeds to start up fine and have
background music and effects. How can I get vdms to
play digital if no settings will work? the compatibility lists
says works fine with soundblaster......but not my case.
Could it be my soundcard......its a realtek-avance ac97
audio onboard codec. Can my issues be resolved?

Not a soundcard issue, more a game version problem - look
for patches/downloadable alternate versions.
