Hello.
AC3 File Extension is not visable.
If i change from "All media types" to "All files" i can open AC3 files but no sound is playig.
i can use FccHandlers plugin.
But i hope you will make a solution in your plugin, so FccHandlers plugin is not needed.
Thanks for report. Just in case, can you share your ac3 file.
You open it in "audio from other file", right?
Yes i open it in "audio from other file" like i will do with mp3,wav and others.
With version 16 the files extension approach is much improved, and there is a long list of supported audio-only files (including ac3).
Yes the files extension is working fine now.
But i have still no audio when i playing the video in VD.
Do you mean the same ac3 file becomes audible when you switch to fcchandler plugin?
This is totally strange. Can you see a correct (not empty) waveform with View->Audio display?
One detail that may be different is floating point samples.
You may try:
switch audio to Full processing
open audio->Conversion and change Precision to 16-bit, also maybe change Channels to mono
Tell me if you can hear the audio after this.

Yes.
And i have now tried to change the settings you have suggested but no difference.
Is this specific to ac3? Do you have same problem with any format?
What about this sample (pcm_s16). Can be opened with "Wave input driver" or "Caching input driver".

AC3 is audible with AC3 plugin by FccHandler and speciel AC-3 ACM Codec by FccHandler in VirtualDub-1.10.5-test7 by Avery Lee, but not in your Fork with same plugin and codec,
The wav is not audible in both VirtualDub-1.10.5-test7 by Avery Lee and your Fork but i see centent in waveform.
Thats really strange.
