Alright, because of the lack of information to even try and recreate this bug (seriously I even installed windows 10 and disabled my internet) couldn't reproduce said hang. Marking as not valid for now unless more detail can be provided on what you were doing etc.
Really hard to fix bugs without details.

I like to point out that check for updates requires an internet connection, so if you're trying to check for new updates and this happens it's your own damn fault for trying to check for new releases without an internet connection, this is remaining as closed and marked as invalid.

I want to point out that update checking at startup is enabled by default, so it hangs without an internet connection, and that's not my own damin fault, because clean programming means, check if something is available before blocking the gui for an infinity amount of time by an update check. So it's the "programmers damin fault" not my fault. But okay, i only wanted to help. But i see. You're the sort of programmer saying it's always the users mistake.

I don't always say that, I've said it specifically to you. No need to be pissy about it. Anyways there is some major changes to how the interfaces interact with things. I'm going to have to redo a lot of things so that will include the updater.

Well, I have to agree with Sebi.
I just got the same behaviour, because I was behind a proxy where VBA-M couldn't get out. And without the ticket here, I would've not found the problems cause. At least not so fast.
There should definitely be a timeout or something that shows whats going on.

I confirm the bug on Windows 10 64-bit with default settings.
wowzaman12: I think you should re-open this, your argument is ridiculous.
BTW, since on IRC or in the forums no one really seemed to care about me, I'm taking the chance to tell you that I'm probably going to fork you and completely rewrite your perfect GUI that all users use so damn incorrectly.

@Riccardo let me tell you one thing. Right now, I'm the primary active developer. I have a lot on my plate and a job. It's not that I don't care, it's that I have been busy with life, also the whole damn project is undergoing a huge line by line look through, interfaces being re-written to support libretro fully that the updater won't be an issue once done. All I ask for is patience and a little understanding of what is pretty much now a one man team is doing is taking longer to do. If you do want to contribute, shoot me off a message on vba-m under the username thecanadianbacon and I'll try to respond as best I can. But as for reopening this. I will not. But, since the actual rewrite hasn't started and I'm just finishing off some other changes, I'll try and make some patch to help rectify a problem that will become moot once the rewrite is done anyways.

Try Help -> Check for updates (latest download
That caused a hang on my Windows 10 64-Bit System, if WLAN etc. is disabled.
