Move to GitHub?

It has been suggested a couple of times that the project should move to GitHub. I've resisted it so far - it's just seemed easier to keep everything unchanged. However, I'm thinking now might be a good time to make the switch.

Does anyone have any thoughts about this?

Go ahead to Github ... I really like the issue tracking, source navigation and collaborative code review. I am not an expert on github but if you need help in migrating not hesitate to contact me.

    +1 to this idea.
It would be good to have this project ported to Github or Bitbucket.
Just one thing. If the project is "copied" to the above, we might hit the issue of development being done in parallel in both places unless everything is moved and this one will get frozen.

    Thanks for your input.

If/when the project is moved to GitHub, the project here on Sourceforge will essentially be frozen and people will be advised of the new project home.

I appreciate this idea. Git is a great colloboration platform and will be a best project home. Will you move the open tickets as well?

I do not see any need to move to GitHub. It's just additional effort for you and for everybody who already has subscribed and links or any other kind of reference.

However, world changes and if the step to move to another place has come, I will follow.

    Thanks

This idea has been out for a while now. In addition to this thread, I also emailed poeple that have been involved in the project recently (I tried to include as many people as I could - apologies if anyone was missed). The general consensus has been in favour of moving to GitHub.

I am therefore starting this work. There might be a few teething issues and there will be a learning curve for me, but I don't expect there will be anything insurmountable :)
