Hmmm, I've got a 'Debian potato, Matrox G400/16Mb, Xfree 3.3.6' setup with the glx-extensions built according to the instructions on the glx-site. Quake 3 areena demo runs fine, as ROOT ..... Have you tried that ? I have no experience of neither Peanut nor Slackware linux, but if it runs OK on one of them, then it should also run on the other ..... Maybe the Xfree version is the problem ..... And as far as I know (which ain't very far ...) Q3 doesn't even start if the glx-extension isn't properly installed (ie. not detected ...).
