With the last update from CVS I experience far more complete system crashes than before. Even the Magic Kernel Keys (SysReq) won't work.
This happens at boot-time, when gdm is started or if I exit an GL-Application.
Do I have to switch to a non-X-runlevel? Shall I not use the extended Video Modes for the Console (Framebuffer Device?).
Can I disable some of the new features to figure out what it is that locks my system up (e.g. Direct Rendering)?
Well, I found out one thing which keeps my computer from crashing every time I exit an accelerated Program.
The Problem was that the output from the X-Server and other programs to the text console was causing this behaviour, so a "startx 2&> any_file" helps there.
Lets see if that was the cause for the system crashes when X starts, too.
Sorry but this information is wrong. I didn't use the latest version when writing this.
I found out now, that option "nolinear" in the Device-Section of the XF86Config prevents the lockups when X starts. But there is nothing I could do to prevent the crashes when I exit an GL application - I wonder what causes this, because something like tuxracer doesn't, but when running q3demo you can bet on it. Well, at least the magic keys still work...
