My noname-notebook with ATI 3D Rage LT Pro (8MB) shows the same complete crashes, no matter which mode I used.
The posted "Rage Pro fix?"- in the developpers' mailing list did not affect this, same when directly refreshing the MTRRs after a suspend via "suspendd".

Don't know state of this one (I don't have a notebook to work with (hint...hint... :-) ) Can someone with a notebook check to see if the current CVS (as of 10-30-00) works any better?

When going to sleep and then waking up the machine again there are 2 adverse phenomena now:
a) The screen is scattered with little erratic points (perhaps 10% of the surface) These points do not move.
NOTE: when I go to "sleep" no actual glx is running, just the glx is activated. However, BEFORE going to sleep I ran successfully a glx application
b) The cursor has disappeared.
This is in mode=4.
