Hi
I'm trying to get going with UML on a Fedora Core 1 system. Since Fedora is a
RH derivative, the 2.4.19 RPM is no use due to the kernel panic on startup.
Hence I bit the bullet, downloaded the Linux 2.4.22 vanilla kernel and
patched it with uml-patch-2.4.22-6. I used the default options for
compilation and it compiled just fine, as I followed the instructions on the
compiling page.
However, when I run linux, it segfaulted:
Checking for the skas3 patch in the host...not found
Checking for /proc/mm...not found
Segmentation fault
I saw the entry in the FAQ about the 2G/2G split which seems the only
reference to an immediate segfault, and since I had no idea how my machine
was configured in that respect, I tried that enabling CONFIG_HOST_2G_2G on a
clean make, but still to no avail.
I've attached the strace.
Any ideas? As you'll appreciate from the above, I'm something of a newbie and
so I'm sorry if I'm failing to do something simple.
Many thanks
David
