Instead, I made the code more careful about blocking off the 0x40000000-0x60000000 region so that any mallocs that happen get mapped outside that area. In your case, that mystery mapping turns out to be from the stdio library mallocing a page or two as a buffer. Have you managed to get uml booting beyond "init=/bin/sh"?
