[uml-user] What is the current state of User Mode Linux?

What is the current state of User Mode Linux?  Most of what I'm finding 
on line is documentation between 10 years (± 5 years) old.

It's been about 15 years since I last did anything serious with UML and 
I'm wondering about it's current state.

I'm particularly interested in the possibility of using UML with 
namespaces (lightweight containers) so that I can work with different 
kernel versions on the same host.
