[uml-user] Process threads not terminating

I've just updated my host's kernel to 2.6.9 and now find that the
process threads from uml are not terminating.  I've just booted uml and
see nearly 300 threads with ps ax.  They are obviously processes that 
were part of the boot sequence.

I find that the threads remain even after the uml has halted.  In this
case the uml process becomes a zombie - presumably waiting for all the
persistent threads. There seems to be no way to clean up other than by
rebooting the host.

The uml seems to behave normally apart from this problem.

I'm using uml 2.4.26-3um.

Can somebody throw some light on this.
