Four hours sounds like a MAC-address-table timeout value in some switches.  How
are you connecting everything together?  I assume these are multiple public IPs
assigned via Road Runner?  Perhaps it's a timeout value on their end.  I have
similar issues with my co-location's switches, if the MAC address of an UML
changes.
