#61 2.6 kernel: debug mode broken

When trying to use the debug command line option on a
2.6.6-uml1-r6 kernel (with gdb 6.0), it looks like gdb
hangs shortly after reporting Using host libthread_db
library "/lib/libthread_db.so.1". Kernel makes no
forward progress. Last reported message from the
kernel is tracing thread pid=7838
