Yes, I know it. As I wrote in 0.9.1 release notes, non-western language support in PDF generation still doesn't work.
UCM uses nfop (http://sourceforge.net/projects/nfop) to produce PDF files.
Unfortunately, nfop requires a special procedure to generate PDF file including non-western character sets, so we are looking for a simple solution to handle that.
I'm sorry, but for now you can export Japanese project in HTML only. Bye.
