Dear Frans I found out that there are two places where the udev-rules are installed. /etc/udev/rules.d/26-etc belonging to buckle buckle and /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/26-etc belonging to root root Changing ownership of the latter to buckle buckle had no effect. Not after a reboot either. And buckle is a member of the plugdev group as you can see in the posted Screenshot from 2025-01-28 16-54-09.png Paul

ok, well I don't think it is my task to debug your sudo / su rights, and when you rebooted, the udevadm commands are not necessary anymore. Where did you install the udev rule? Your user must be in the plugdev group as well (or you have to edit the udev file with a group that you are in)

:D I have rebooted. Several times... and buckle is a member of sudo as you can see in the added screenshot. Somehow there is a difference between su - and sudo, resulting in the first to start usbpicprog and the other to do not.

Yes, udev is present. sudoing udevadm control --reload-rules && udevadm trigger shows a lot of permission denieds. su - and then udevadm control --reload-rules && udevadm trigger does not. The latter seems to work out of the box, without errors. The txt file contains the output of the sudo udevadm control --reload-rules && udevadm trigger <enter> command. I don't know how to iinterpret this. Kind regards Paul</enter>

It only works in super user mode. In normal user mode the usbpicprog says not connected/ bootloader not found. What am I missing?

I can't see any sign that usbpicprog can access these locations, needed for In-circuit Debugging on the 877 (and as far as I know Microchip hasn't released information on the equivalent for other devices). Can it access them?

I've found method to program bootloader to my USBPICprog programmer...Didn't realise that I must use P2 for that :-D Now I have WORKING bootloader and newest firmware and software :-D !!! Keep up the good work!!! Are there any further development ( for example AVR support or anything else)?

No, I bought it straight from you if I remember correctly ...And I forgot to mention that when I try either one of those methods Windows gives a warning sound and program says "Bootloader or programmer not found" and the red led is on all the time..

OK, maybe it doesn't have bootloader so how can I program that to this programmer? I have another programmer TL866A which I maybe can use to program USBPICprog via ICSP? I really don't exactly remember where I bought this from but I bought this little after this "came to market" or so to say... It is blue PCB with text usbpicprog v0.3 (all components are SMD...)

Did you build your hardware yourself? Or buy it somewhere other than from me? In that case you probably have no bootloader programmed into it at all.

No no no no, programmer works really OK but it irritates me that if I use newer versions of program it nags me about old firmware and asks "Do you want to upgrade firmware..." That's why I am trying to UPDATE my firmware :-) Only when I take the Select jumper away or try to update firmware within USBPICprog program that happens (meaning system and program give this announcement "Bootloader...and so on"

You may have accidentally removed your firmware. Please remove the "Select" jumper, then unplug and replug your usbpicprog. You should be getting the bootloader firmware now.

Can't update firmware to my USBPICprog-programmer. Everytime I try it program says: "Bootloader not found..." It does same thing both ways, if I remove Select jumper or try to update in USBPICprog program...Is there any other method to update ???

Work fine in Win 7, 64 bits, Ubuntu 16.04 64 bits. I made my own pcb from the schematics. (Year 2013). Unfortunately it seems that the project is abandoned.
