The most recent discussion on this that I could find was from early 2012, but that was back when d2x was on far earlier versions.
What request or enchancement tip do you have?
1. Allow USB Loader GX to launch games located at sd:/wbfs on a FAT32 formatted SD card, as can be done with GameCube games
Please provide any additional information below.
Now that d2x has stabilized and the filesystems of the USB drive and the SD card are the same, and since they are apparently transparent to the loader (can browse both by choosing sd:/ or usb1:/), can we add an option to list games located at sd:/wbfs? It would fit nicely with all of the other options in Custom Paths.
I know there are the philosophical reasons ("USB loader", not "SD loader") and the "why would you want this?" questions, but it would be a nice option to have available.
This was "WontFix"ed in 2012, but that was for an earlier, less stable d2x. Another version of this feature request was deleted as a result of the move to 2.0, with a note to reopen any outstanding requests.

It's a recurrent request.
I will do it, but I don't know when.

I wrote you a message on my other issue. I would attempt to implement this myself, but I'm unable to compile USB Loader GX.

Music games only run smoothly via SD. Hoping for this Feature, too. Have to use WiiFlow till then.
I've been using cfg loader lately because, for me, it's much nicer to just have everything on one 32GB card (I don't have that many games and can leave those I don't play often on a separate backup). However, GX is a much nicer loader with a better GUI and an active developer, so I'd really like to see this implemented.
Is this thing still going to happen? With WiiU usb loadine GX 2, Using also Usb loader GX for Wii games would be fantastic.

Bump. Of course it would be cool to have it: it makes using flash storage easier (sd + pen drives) instead of using spinning disks.
+1
SD cards are pretty cheap. I recently got a 512gb SD for my wii for well below $100 for this only to realize USB Loader GX doesn't boot Wii games from SD. Quite a surpise since it works with GC. I was hoping to declutter and get rid of the USB drive. I really don't like the interfaces of other loaders so I guess I'll stick with the USB drive. What's the chance on this ever getting implemented?
Please, I am in desparate need of USBLoader GX to be able to load games from my SD card. Why, you ask? Allow me to share my situation:
I have a Wii U, and I want to play Rock Band 3 on it. Specifically I want to play my old version of Rock Band 3 that I had hacked out to have a ton of music via the emunand (We're talking like 800 or so songs here). Now I can load Rock Band 3 with the songs loading from the emunand with absolutely no problem on my Wii U when I load the game from my USB drive. But this comes with an issue or two. The biggest issue is that I can't use my keyboard controller this way. The Keyboard controller came with a wireless dongle that connects to the Wii/Wii U. Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but once you're in USBLoader GX, the front 2 ports of the Wii U seem to stop working entirely so the dongle can't connect in the front. In the back I'm using a Y-cable to connect and power my USB drive. The Dongle does have 2 ports in it so that you can connect it to a USB port and still connect something else to the dongle for USB access. What I try is connecting the USB to the Wii U and the other port of the Y cable to the dongle connected in the other port. Now for one of my hard drives (The Wii U formatted drive), this setup actually works, the dongle works and all my Wii U games work. However, for my Wii drive, the one with all my Wii games on it, when I connect this way, the drive doesn't seem to get enough power and fails to stay connected and load titles. So my thought was, alright, I'll just put the game on my SD card, not even bother swapping out drives (keeping the Wii U hard drive always connected is more convenient anyway), put my emunand on the SD card (its a big SD card, space is not an issue), and hopefully load up the game that way. To my shock however, USBLoader GX does not support loading Wii games from the SD card. I don't understand how or why this is the case, but my thought was no big deal, I'll try the other loaders, which I did, but Wiiflow would only boot to a black screen, and CFG USB Loader errored out. Clearly USBLoader GX is the most stable and maintained of the loaders, so if anyone would work in the way I need it to, then this would be the one, but without the simple feature to load Wii games from my SD card, I can't even test it out.
Please, I beg of whoever keeps updating this program, please implement this feature. It would be the last thing to really make my Wii U feel complete.
Not sure if this will ever et implemented. I'm finding it harder and harder to find USB devices that are compatible with Wii. The last few I got have had issues so I'm hoping SD will be an option.
