I just install driver (linux-2.6.32) and usbip tools (0.17).
I have gentoo linux and I have Dlink DIR-825, one printer has been shared by him.
Only Windows driver/application are provided by Dlink.
I assume that your utilities (long terms) provide a possibilities to use this way.
I'am not developper, I have a time to 'debug' and 'test'. Sorry
I had problems connecting to the server also. I found if you run usbipd without the "D" flag it will give some debug information. My problem was a permissions issue. Adding
usbipd: ALL
to the /etc/hosts.allow gave the correct permissions to allow outside connections to the server component.
