We are considering using the Mecca system for the requirements of one of
our local South African colleges.
As a background, we were a Compiere ERP+CRM partner since 2003 and have
recently thrown our weight behind Adempiere. So, we are fairly intimate
with Adempiere code and java/j2EE in general. We would like to take the
Mecca base code and customise/enhance/support our client's requirements.
We have the following queries:
a) We would like to have general email, online chats or in some case
telephonic chats with you or your support team. What support arrangement
can you propose to us and what would be the cost be?
b) Is the Mecca system (especially the student admin functionality)
running 'live' anywhere? Can you provide us with some details e.g. no.
of users/students e.t.c.? This was one of the first questions we where
asked by our client, when we mentioned the Mecca system to them.
c) Our assumption is that the system is largely based on Ofbiz and your
framework, and the Compiere integration has not really taken off. Can
you shed some light here?

c) Our architecture is drawn from the ground up and based on simplified JSR168 specs and using Jakarta Velocity. We avoided OfBiz due to its complexity. Everything about our design is aimed at short learning curve and lightweight client.
Our model has its own portal engine, allowing simplified flat POJOs to plugin easily.
