I have tried subscribing to this forum and I got email updates as expected. I don't know if subscition is limited to SourceForge registered users or if it is open to everyone including to anonymous users, although you still need to supply an email for that to work I guess. Can anyone one test this?
For now I setup the General Discussion forum to send all new posts to the mailing list. If you are reading this through the mailing list then we know it works. If this generates too much traffic we will trun it off. Also, replying to email here means that they will not show up on the forum so it might not be a good idea on the long run, but, here we go :-)
Regards,
Jafar

Good morning Jafar,
Have tried to subscribe to various forums and nothing (as yet). Noting
seems to stick when I have logged in and set the notifications. Is there
any way to get the forum posts to just go to the Unicon-group?

Hmm, after being on the forge for years now, I've never actually had to subscribe to anything, it just happened when made an admin or contributing member.
Bruce, when you look at say the General Discussion topic list, do you a top banner like
or just the little RSS feed follow Icon? I had to hit the big Update email subscriptions button on the bottom of the General Discussions topic list screen before the top banner changed to the picture above. All it had at first was the little RSS feed follow button (which doesn't really look like a button, more of a background graphic, but oh, well). After that, clicking the little envelope toggles the Subscription setting (viewed from Me (the very top bar of SourceForge) -> Account Settings -> Subscriptions tab. That subscription tab also clearly shows where emails are sent.
To Clinton and Jafar, I'll apologize a little; never had these issues with administering Discussion forums, and I didn't mean to chew into your time. I never had to subscribe for mail, and I can see now that there are some iffy user interface issues there. But, I will say it'll be worth it in the end. Some future day, when all the code listings turn to colour, it'll be nicely impressive.
(and this post will be test to see if it is forwarded to email)
Edit; seconds later, yep mail received
Cheers,
Brian
