Windows XP SP3, 2 GHz dual core processor, 3Gb memory. Just downloaded UMPlayer v 0.98 to run MT2S video files. The sound is OK, but the movie freezes, or updates randomly every few seconds. Help!

Heya Philip, just tested a couple of my MT2S files in UMPlayer, they play fine for me but i wasn't able to move the seek bar on either of them, which suggests to me there is a bit of a glitch.

It is a pretty new player so there will be some glitches, sounds like something else in your set-up ain't right tho, cos you have freezing/jerkiness too. What graphics card are you using? More info would be useful.

Like most people, i have a couple of media players, do you? And if you do, is there a similar issue with your other players/s?

    Hello Valkyrie, thanks for writing.

My Video card is ATI Radeon 9600 with 256Mb memory, 128 bit bus width. I've had it a few years, but it was very high-end at the time.
Windows Media Player 11 doesn't recognise the format.
GOM player has a fairly smooth picture but severe sound stutter after playing for about 4 seconds.

Heya again Philip, cheers for the extra info. Hmmm, i am thinking maybe your video card finds the MT2S container a bit heavy duty, if so, there is a solution.

GOM player is great but if it's ok with you, i'd like you to test playing them in PotPlayer. It's based on KMPlayer technology, if the files don't play smoothly in this player, your set-up isn't suitable for the container. Pasting a link………

If there's still a problem with playback, my suggestion would be to remux files to the MKV container for playback. MKVToolnix will do this easily within a couple of minutes, without appreciable loss of quality as it doesn't reencode. Scroll down the page in this link, Windows binaries are near the bottom of the page, choose the installer option for ready to go set-up……..

Hope this helps and good luck! Please let me know how you get on, all that's good for now. =)

    Hello Valkyrie,

PotPlayer works a bit better. The sound is clear, but! The picture runs at about 75% speed, sound is correct speed; and after about one minute, the sound starts to stutter.

I'll have to try the Toolnix route. I've got dozens of short videos to review befire deciding which ones to select and process into something more user-friendly that will play on everyday movie players.

    Best regards.
