Hi,

I would like to request the UltraDefrag has options to force all files to the beginning of a partition and another option to force all files to the end of a partition. I am aware that on the system partition there are limits to this - you can't force the Page File of MFT to new locations other than the locations that are set by Windows. However, in that situation it would still be possible to force all movable files to the beginning/end of a partition.

My reason for making this feature request is that Windows now allows resizing of partitions. However, to what extent a partition can be resized depends (in part) on the location of files on the partition. Creating this feature in UltraDefrag would make a huge improvement to user's capacities to resize partitions.

Many thanks for a promising defrag tool.

Thank you, we'll consider to make it some day.

So why do you mark this as still unread ?

As people request this feature quite frequently it's definitely worth to be implemented. First of all I plan to add a "deep optimization" option to the next release which will move all movable files to the beginning of the disk. Then we'll see what can be done to move files to the end. I guess it would be pretty hard to explain why this option is needed to the majority of users.

Couldn't you move the pagefile to the beginning of the drive using the boot time defrag. generally speaking windows doesent care where the page file is physically as long as its logically located at C:\pagefile.sys

Thank you for suggestion. I hope some day the program will be able to move certain files to the beginning of the disk. At the moment I've no time to add this feature, but who knows what will happen in future.
