New version coming soon

I hope to (FINALLY!) be releasing a beta version of Layout Ultimate 2006 within the next week. It will sport multiplayer, but the 7 on 7 code will not make it into this first beta. There are also quite a few other changes from the orginal version that I hope will make the experience a bit better.

I'd like to do a bit more testing before I unleash this onto the world, so if you'd like to help me out shoot me an email (asteinberg@users.sourceforge.net).

still alive, and now with 7 on 7

Hey, we're still here and progressing on the new version slowly but surely. Peter Samland was nice enough to take on the task of adding support for 7 on 7 for a class project, and his code is now in our CVS repository on a branch. It's totally playable so just check out the SEVEN_ON_SEVEN-1 branch from CVS if you want to give it a shot.

Multiplayer and Visual C++!

Hey, we've got a bit of activity going on in CVS. First, we've got some files which will help you get started with developing in Windows. There is a Visual C++ 6 project file in CVS, and detailed instructions are at https://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?docid=23795&group_id=112839.

Next, I added a branch to CVS for my preliminary work on adding a multiplayer mode! It's still got a way to go, but I'm pretty happy with the results so far after only a couple days of work. You sometimes get in these weird "out of sync" states, but in general it is now possible for two people to connect to each other and run around a bit. If you want to help out with this, please contact me (https://sourceforge.net/sendmessage.php?touser=1064461); I could use the help! If you've got ideas about multiplayer stuff, you can post a reply to this news item.

Interested in helping out?

If you are interested in doing some programming on Layout Ultimate, you'll be happy to know that we would love your help. To make getting started easier for you, I just finished writing up a little "map" of the code, which will hopefully help you track down which source code module does the thing you're interested in. Check out the document at http://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?docid=23594&group_id=112839
Also, you should drop me a line letting me know what you're interested in doing (or asking me for ideas if you want to help but you're not sure how), I'd be glad to help you out.

Announcing Layout Ultimate 2004

After over six months of promising and 10,000 downloads of UPA Frisbee 2004, we're finally going through with the open sourcing of the game! To celebrate, we're changing the name to Layout Ultimate 2004. The file available here is still the same as it was when we first released it in December, but we're excited to get to work improving the game. We greatly appreciate all the feedback we've gotten so far and would love it if you would post any feature requests or comments you have on the game in the forum or in the feature tracker. Also, if you're interested in helping with development (whether its with code, artwork, or in some other way), please get in touch!
