uals is an enhanced ls offering better display control useful for piping results into other commands. The date-time format is consistantly displayed and can be easily changed with format options. Options have been added to easily generate and parse file and directory lists. Many options for filtering results have been added and the recursive and noheader options can be used for complete file path. Since uals cannot modify files it is more sudo-safe than find with -exec and is "less expensive" in not forking for each file.

The default behaviour is a reformatted 'ls -l' with more readable octal mode, size in k|m|g vs. bytes, and a numeric date:
