Custom Text and question while in combat
I think this is an advanced feature and not necessary for version 1.0. That being said, heres what I propose:
During combat, the designer has custom text in a yes/no question pop up onscreen and combat action pauses while awaiting a one-keystroke answer. This one keystroke answer evaluates to true if "y" and false if anything else.
Use: lets say thru a twist of fate you end up squaring off in combat against the members of the night watch. Then as the combat initiates and you take a beating, then at the end/beginning of a round (determined by designer) a text message appears saying "surrender and we will let you keep your miserable lives!!!" and then below says "surrender yes/no", at which you can press "y" and it ends combat.

I'm not sure, having not thought to try something like this, but I think we might be able to do already. :)
Here's what I know DC can do in combat:
Count down rounds
Determine if a specific round is at hand
Use pop-up boxes with customizable text and buttons (not tested in combat)
Do something depending upon the button
Do things at the start or the end of a combat round
Change friendly/enemy setting
Add combatants to a combat
-->oddly we can not remove them, other than killing them
One should be able to have a pop-up appear at the start of round 6, ask the player if she wishes to surrender, and then remove all of the enemy combatants - by killing them or by making them "friendly"
