Here's are request made via the Irownorks forums by nologgie and a response with more thoughts on it by manikus.

"I'd like to see a Trap Event added to the list. (I hope it can be done via scripting, but I have no idea how at this point.) It could double as a more flexible Damage Event (heat or cold damage per step in a zone, etc.), which would count as a non-detectable/non-disarmable trap. Even if it can be built via scripts, I believe novice designers like me would use it if it was an event, but give up if we had to script the whole thing.
It would have the option of allowing detection via Find Traps spell, a percentage chance of detection per gnome or dwarf for traps in stonework, and a percentage for each thief in the party.
------------------------------------------------------
Trap event
(Y/N) Detectable
[If Detectable]
(Y/N) by Find Traps
(Y/N) Searching Required [for subsequent detection types]
[Add/Subtract from detection % option]
(Y/N) by Thieves
(Y/N) In Stonework [To consider short guy percentage.]
Damage Type [Pull down menu]
Physical (based on thac0, or automatic)
Fire
Cold
Electricity
Magic (spell)
Acid
Breath attack
Death effect
Poison
Falling
Suffocation/Drowning
Add/Subtract from save [+/- number block]
[If applicable: thac0 of attack. Saving vs. Fall is traditionally based upon dexterity with minuses for encumbrance rather than a standard saving throw.]
(Y/N) Transfer [If transferred by activating the trap]

If you can think of anything I've left out, a better way to do it, or consider the whole idea silly, please post your comments.
Think we can get it by version 2.3?"

"I'll wait for Dinonykos to prove me wrong, but I think about 75% of this can be done in version .914 and about 20% more in .930033 (the most current I'm using). What can't be done now is for someone to do it easily in one event without a lot of scripting and logic blocking (as in the event).
Personally, I wouldn't even consider a damage event, just logic blocks and a text event or two, or maybe an encounter event or a who tries. You could use quests to keep track of stuff, or even better use ASLs.
Have I lost you yet? I thought I might have. While doing this is not impossible in DC, it's pretty complicated.
I'll write up something for the feature requests list. Maybe we don't need a new event, maybe we just need to give an existing event - damage - some more options, like the ability to attach scripts via Special Abilities (that's how I'm handling damage type right now). I think that might be easier with less code to monkey around with. Heck that might even mean he can get to it as early as version 2,29."
