the interface for selling items in a store is nice when
using the "chat" command. it would be great to have a
similar interface for purchasing items in addition to
or instead of the "crap on the floor" interface there now.
chat might open up a small menu of "buy" and "sell".
The buy menu would list items, cost, and inventory.
if items aren't forced to be on the floor, this can
open up a lot more interesting and realistic stores.
additionally, when items are sold to a shop they can be
added to the inventory.
stores should also only buy the kinds of items they
sell. food stores don't sell weapons, so why should
the merchant in a food store buy them?
finally, when selling items that are stacked, it should
be possible to specify how many of them you want to
sell. currently you have to sell all of the stacked
items or use the "give" interface to sell items.
stores could also base prices on stock. items which
they have a lot of might be priced less (over-stocked),
for example. stores could also have random sales in
which one or two items selected at random are at a
reduced price for a limited time period.

Goods ideas. I'd like to make the shops a bit more
useful/realistic.
Problem is that I actually like the objects on the floor
since they make the shop visually intersting! Will have to
find some new way to decorate them I guess....
