I think you should be able take two save files and take
the characters into this room where you can trade items
and learn skills from each other.

    Interesting idea. But how would you stop someone from giving
    all the items to one character and making the character
    insanely powerful?

    Whatever is implemented mustn't put people who play only a
    single character at an unfair disadvantage.

    It could be over the internet. Someone couldn't be in two
    places at once, and they'd still have to work for the items.
    Maybe the skill thing could cost something like 10 Gold.

    Hello Dave, you could still start like 10 different chars ,
    each with a different starting class and pass all those on
    to 1 char. That would be way overpowered.

    I dont know if you are familiar with the concept of player
    ghosts. These creatures are based on savefiles and have all
    the equipment, but they are also quite powerful, so killing
    one takes time and is risky.

    I might consider player ghosts...
