[twmode-users-en] post-install difficulty

I run m-xtw-mode <cr>
I get asked if I want to open auth site with browser and agree.
The authorization site opens up and shows itself.
I'm left in the minibuffer and prompted for a pin I can't enter since m-x 
left doesn't take me into the buffer I need to be in to log into twitter.
Emacs version is 24.52 I think.  How do I cycle between minibuffer and log 
in area to get this app authorized?  Before when I got past this point gpg 
messed up on me for some reason and I never did figure that out.
I wouldn't even be trying to use tw-mode except that ttytter is at 
end-of-life and is no longer supported.
I'm curious to see if gpg will mess up on me again.  Should I  have 
created a key set with gpg before installing twittering-mode?
